Intel Arc Alchemist may have a top-of-the-line model released only in June –

leaker fonts Moore’s Law is Dead indicate that the Intel Arc Alchemist family of gaming GPUs should be released gradually during the first half of 2022. Apparently, the Santa Clara giant should debut the line from the most basic notebook models, reaching the most powerful cards for desktop only at the end of the second quarter.

Top-of-the-line Intel Arc Alchemist could debut in June

According to the information, the main releases of the Arc Alchemist family would only happen in the second quarter of 2022, and most sources believe that the top-of-the-line model, equipped with a DG2-512 chip, should only be available between May and June. That said, Intel may do a “paper launch” before then, revealing all the details of the solution and its less powerful sisters without actually bringing them to market.

In fact, the company is expected to take advantage of some of the big gaming events of the first semester to finally reveal complete information about the Arc line – the bet is on PAX East, scheduled to take place between the 21st and 24th of April. On the other hand, the most basic notebook models, such as the recently leaked Arc A370M, with a DG2-128 chip, could arrive even before the presentation, between March and April.

Interestingly, the leaker points out that the cards could already be released next month, but suggests the head of Intel’s graphics division, Raja Koduri, wants to make sure the drivers are well tuned to ensure good reception from the media and users. Fortunately, despite the delays, Moore’s Law is Dead is confident about the performance and stocks of the Arc cards, and even the drivers, which should be at least reasonably optimised.

The insider also sees that the delays should force Intel to work with even more competitive prices than expected, especially considering the proximity of the next generations of AMD and Nvidia cards, the RDNA 3 and Lovelace GPUs, which should at least guarantee the double the performance compared to current RDNA 2 and Ampere.

Changes to the official website reinforce rumor

In addition to the credibility of Moore’s Law is Deadwhose leak hit rate is quite high, the changes Intel made to the Arc family’s official website in early January, even after pointing to a Q1 launch in its CES 2022 presentation, reinforce the possibility of the new availability information is correct.

The page was updated and the release promise changed from “first quarter 2022” to just “2022”, without a more specific window. Another interesting point, which aligns with the information released by the leaker, is the Intel VisiON event announced during CES 2022, part of the company’s annual ON presentation circuit, scheduled for May.
