With Kylian Mbappé in their sights and Karim Benzema in the squad, Real Madrid could still decide to sign another attacking star. Not Erling Haaland, but rather plan B Robert Lewandowski, who is closing in on a Bayern Munich departure.
Unachievable. that’s how ace judges the Erling Haaland operation for next summer, on the side of Real Madrid. The merengue club would therefore miss the opportunity to recruit the Norwegian at the cost of his release clause of €75m, facing stiff competition, the hoped-for arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the essential presence of Karim Benzema, who don’t intend to give up his place like that.
But Real Madrid is not a club to let its law be dictated on the transfer market. And if he wants to recruit a striker, then he will not hesitate. The newspaper ace therefore reports that the Robert Lewandowski option is still considered viable, for several reasons. Already, he is coming to the end of his contract in 2023 and he will be in a strong position to negotiate a departure from Bayern Munich, which seems to be his priority.
Lewandowski wants Real Madrid
If the Bavarian club wants to touch a few million (an amount between 30 and 40 M€ is mentioned), it will have to be sold next summer. And Real Madrid is considered the big favorite to welcome him since this is where the 33-year-old Polish striker, winner of the last two editions of The Best prize, wants to land. Then, his salary, around 12 M€ net per season, is within the rates charged by Real Madrid for most of its players, such as Benzema, Modric or more recently Alaba.
Finally, with his crazy statistics, Lewandowski has a better performance in front of goal than Karim Benzema, but also the potential future rookie Kylian Mbappé. Can Real Madrid say no to the prospect of signing Lewandowski next summer when all the lights are green? The option clearly exists and the initial plan B could well become plan A.
