While Chelsea are in Abu Dhabi to prepare for their semi-final of the Club Cup, Hakim Ziyech (28) dropped a small bomb. Not selected by Vahid Halilhodzic to compete in CAN 2021, the Moroccan international (40 caps, 17 goals) has just announced that he is retiring from international football!
“I will not return to the national team. This is my final decision. Everything is clear to me. I focus on what I do, my club. (If he’s disappointed?) Sure, who wouldn’t? But in the end, it’s him (Vahid Halilhodzic, editor’s note) who makes the decisions. You must respect them. It is clear to me and I will not return to the selection. I understand them and I feel sorry for the supporters”, did he declare. It remains to be seen whether this decision will change when the former coach of FC Nantes packs up.
