Xiaomi 12U could be the name of the Xiaomi flagship “Ultra” in name and price –

There has been speculation about a Xiaomi 12 Ultra since last year. The likely flagship has even appeared in alleged images with its distinctive look. If so, Xiaomi should give up an extra display, focusing on wider lens distribution.

However, it may still be a while before we see the Xiaomi 12 Ultra on the market. Behind the scenes there is now talk of sales forecast for the second half of the year. This may reflect the scarcity of chips in the market, but it would allow the cell phone to look for another good differential in addition to its cameras.

Instead of adopting Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the smartphone could offer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. As is common, Qualcomm revises its premium chip after a few months, allowing it to achieve a little more performance — through higher core clocks.

a new name

In addition, Xiaomi will be able to launch it under a new name: Xiaomi 12U. That is, the company would shorten the “Ultra” in the nomenclature, having to keep the hardware that has been speculated – such as a periscopic camera for 5x optical zoom.

In addition, behind the scenes, the presence of an adaptive panel of up to 120 Hz, in a 6.8-inch screen with Quad HD resolution, is taken for granted. The main lens can bring a 200-megapixel sensor. The other sensors not yet mentioned in leaks could be for ultrawide, macro, and/or depth of field photography.

About charging, there would be support for 120 W, as in the Xiaomi Mix 4. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi will include the accessory in the box. Last year, the Mi 11 Ultra only shipped with an 80W power supply for those who pre-ordered it.

The Xiaomi 12U would thus be Ultra in name, and in price: it is expected to launch for the equivalent of US$940 in China, with its global variant costing much more than that. In Europe, the MI 11 Ultra was launched at EUR 1,200. It’s reasonable to expect something around that for the successor.

It is worth remembering that Xiaomi executives already give clues about a possible event to comment more on the company’s next top of the line. Thus, the company may make the Xiaomi 12U official in the first half of the year, but its availability will be delayed. Sony and Huawei have already adopted similar strategies, announcing flagships months before opening sales.
