Wordle gets free Game Boy clone –

A YouTuber developed a copy of wordle playable for Game Boy and Analogue Pocket. User StackSmashing has created an unofficial ROM of the word guessing hit that was recently purchased by The New York Times.

In the last month, the wordle conquered the world and brought green and yellow blocks to the profile of many people. In the game, we have a new word every day, with five letters and six chances to get it right. Without thematic tips, the only way to know if you’re on the right track is the little boxes that appear with each entry entered — and later generate the posts seen on social networks.

The ROM of wordle for laptops was made available for free on GitHub. The game follows the same basic premise as the mobile version with a difference: players can play without a limited number of words per day.

The unofficial version of wordle it’s not perfect. In a series of Twitter posts, StackSmashing revealed that the ROM had to be very small, which prevented him from putting in a large number of words. Instead, the YouTuber used a high error rate filter, which checks whether an entered word is one of the 8,000 most common English entries.

After the purchase by The New York Times, wordle should remain free in its official version for computers and mobile devices, at least for now. Who ensured that the fun was maintained was the game’s creator, Josh Wardle, who also declared that he was working alongside the American newspaper to preserve the game’s score even when it migrated to the online portal.
