AS Roma hooked by Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico –

Opening the 24th day of Serie A, AS Roma (6th, 38 pts) hosted Genoa (19th, 13 pts) this Saturday at 3 p.m. At the Stadio Olimpico, the men of José Mourinho, authors of three consecutive successes in the league, could hope to pick up the top 5 in the event of another victory. Opposite, the Rossoblu, now coached by Alexander Blessin since the dismissal of Andriy Shevchenko, remained on a draw gleaned against Udinese (0-0) after having chained three defeats in a row. However, despite the accounting gap at the start of this meeting, the Genoa club was determined to take the lead. Dominating during the first half hour, the Rossoblu however did not find the fault and the Romans grew bolder gradually.

Just before the break, Abraham was very close to opening the scoring (38th) before Oliveira (40th) then Mkhitaryan (41st) made Sirigu tremble. In vain. Back to back at the break (7 shots on each side), the two teams returned with the same intentions. Facing the low boulder of Genoa, La Louve then tried to speed up its transmissions to make the difference. Under pressure, the Rossoblu still controlled the assaults of the Giallorossi, even after the expulsion of Ostigard (68th). In numerical superiority for more than twenty minutes, Roma stumbled on the united defense of the visitors and let slip two points despite a goal denied to Zaniolo in the dying seconds (90th). The same frustrated and expelled Zaniolo just before the final whistle. With this zero result, AS Roma stagnated in 6th place. Genoa remains stuck in a dangerous 19th place.
