Google Images tests yet another integration for searches with Lens –

Google tests yet another Lens integration for web image search, users reported this week. In some browsers, the search engine has replaced the traditional search for images capable of finding similar files in different resolutions or related ones, with a smarter booster, similar to that of the mobile app.

Apparently, the function is very similar to the integration that Chrome has with Google’s smart lenses, available in the context menu. Using Lens, the image search not only finds similar captures, but also identifies the objects photographed — such as products, establishments and famous people.

As on mobile, the user can also crop only a corner of the image to search. This functionality is useful when you are not interested in searching for everything in the image, but only a part of it — such as a pair of sneakers, a logo, a face or a decorative object.

Determining whether Lens does the Google Images search is simple: when available, the gray image search icon (traditional) changes to the Lens version (color), next to the microphone button for voice input. Clicking on it invokes a blank field to insert files from the computer itself — you can manually search the PC or just drag the desired photo with the mouse.

Once the search is done, the results are displayed on the right of the screen, while the original file is displayed on the left. Highlighted in the search, cards with information about the captured content are displayed.

The rollout of this feature seems to happen very slowly, as it is a Google test. If you have not been given the function on your computer, there is no way to force activation of it. It remains, therefore, to wait until the definitive release of the novelty.
