A new rumor released by the informant ZACKBUKS suggests that Sony’s next high-end phone, the Xperia 1 IV, could be announced soon based on the Xperia PRO-I, the brand’s premium camera-focused device. It seems that the Japanese giant can improve the quality of the cameras even further, while it must correct some of the criticisms leveled at the previous generation.
Sony Xperia IV could be announced in May
Second ZACKBUKS, the fourth generation of Sony’s flagship high-end smartphone could hit the market in May, about 6 months after the launch of the Xperia PRO-I in October last year. The leaker is based on the ad window that the company has practiced in recent generations, revealing at least two tops of the line per year, one for each semester.
That said, the supposed Xperia 1 IV should be available later – the giant usually reveals its new phones a long time before the launch itself. The previous generation, for example, was announced in June, to be effectively made available only in July. Similar situation should occur with the new device.

The informant also discloses a good part of the alleged technical sheet of the new phone, with specific improvements on the features offered by the Xperia PRO-I and corrections of points criticized in the Xperia 1 III, including screen and battery.
Mobile should bring Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and new cameras
According to the information, the new Xperia 1 IV should not bring great innovations compared to its predecessor, but it can offer a more complete and robust experience. As expected, the novelty should arrive equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, possibly in its original version, still affected by heating — the “Plus” variant, manufactured by TSMC, is expected to debut only in the second half of the year.
Following the platform, Sony should position the next Xperia more aggressively against other premium models on the market by providing up to 16GB of RAM, along with the 12GB option launched in past generations, plus up to 512GB of storage, with expansion via Micro SD cards.
There is no information about the sensors, but the cameras should get upgrades in the lenses, especially the main one, which should be accompanied by an ultrawide and variable telephoto. It is still possible that the Xperia PRO-I’s “1 inch” sensor will return on the Xperia 1 IV, although there is no mention of this.
One of the highlights, the battery would finally receive an upgrade when going from 4,500 mAh to 5,000 mAh, with 45 W fast charging, an important upgrade for the screen, which should gain more brightness in the new model.
