Elden Ring will be easier to beat than Dark Souls, says director –

Elden Ring should be easier to zero than dark soulssaid Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware and creator of dark souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. He stated that the freedom of the open world and the ability to come back to a challenge later are elements that will help players.

The statement was given in an interview with the PlayStation Blog, published this Friday (28). Miyazaki stressed that the difficulty of FromSoftware’s games is not designed to “give work or make things difficult”, but rather so that “players are perceptive, study the game, think about what is happening and learn from their mistakes”.

“In Elden Ring, we didn’t try to reduce the difficulty of the game on purpose, but I think more players will be able to make it to the end this time,” he said. Unlike other FromSoftware titles, the focus of the new game will not be action, which will give more possibilities for the player to conduct their progress in their own way.

“We’ve even reduced the amount of steps you have to go through to enjoy multiplayer. So we hope players embrace the idea of getting help from others. We believe the overall game completion percentage will go up this time because of this.”

Miyazaki also commented how Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice directly influenced the mechanics and narrative of Elden Ring. “For example, the mechanic of breaking the enemy’s position in Elden Ring is similar to the successful posture system of the Sekiro”, he explains. About the story, he pointed out:

“While we are keeping the world Elden Ring with a sense of depth and fragmented historylet’s stick with our storytelling philosophythere’s even more focus on human elements and drama than before. We were certainly inspired by the way Sekiro dealt with it, and we tried to apply the good experiences in Elden Ring.”

The director also revealed some important details, such as the presence of a New Game+ and varied endings. He also revealed that It Takes Two positively surprised him, managing to hold him from start to finish. “Honestly, I didn’t have much interest in him at first. But when I tried playing with a friend, I started to like it. Having a young child, the narrative moved me a lot, which was the most interesting part in the end.” Who knew, right?
