Huawei Mate 40 should win official “clone” with MediaTek chip –

US sanctions made Huawei put a brake on its global expansion, but the company found creative solutions to continue selling appealing cell phones. Honor re-releases flagship versions of it, and some designs are loaned to non-embargoed business partners.

One of them is TD Tech, which should soon launch the Mate 40E on its own structure. Of course, the smartphone must be given a different name, but visually it will be identical to the Huawei product and it must rely on that to sell.

Leaner version, in terms of hardware, Huawei’s Mate 40E brings a Kirin 990E. The TD Tech version, however, must have a Dimensity 1000+ chip. Just like the original cell phone, the “official clone” should bring 40 W fast charging. It is quite likely that it also replicates camera aspects.

Hardware

The Huawei Mate 40E offers a 64MP main lens, 16MP ultrawide PDAF laser focus, and an 8MP telephoto sensor for 3x optical zoom. On the front, there are 13 MP for selfies.

One peculiarity is that the storage expansion slot is NM, not micro SD. From the factory it comes with 128 GB or 256 GB, with 8 GB of RAM.

There is connectivity for 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB-C 3.1. Its 4200mAh battery can be recharged at up to 40W wired or wirelessly. If the TD Tech model preserves all these features, and depending on its price, the smartphone should be a good competitor.

Unfortunately there is no release date. A “defect” of the original Mate 40E is that it uses a system still based on Android 10. There is also no information on whether the TD Tech version will have a more up-to-date system from the factory.
