Several brands take advantage of the Chinese New Year period to launch new premium devices. With the date approaching, the popular leaker Digital Chat Station suggested that more than four gamer phones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will hit the market in February.
According to the insider, several gaming-oriented devices will be released after the Spring Festival in China. This year, the traditional Chinese calendar celebrations will take place from February 1st to 12th.
Thus, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition, the Lenovo Legion Y90 and the variants of the Nubia Red Magic 7 and Xiaomi Black Shark 5 lines should make their debut after that date. However, none of the models had the launch officially confirmed by the brands.

War led by Snapdragon 8
According to Digital Chat Station, gamer smartphones are expected to be launched between the third week of February and the beginning of March. Interestingly, all the phones mentioned must be powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as models with MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9000 should only hit the market in the middle of the second quarter.
This should generate a dispute between the brands to prove which model will offer the best performance and functionality while taking advantage of the processor’s resources. Unveiled in November 2021, the chipset brings the best GPU ever made to mobile devices.
According to the manufacturer, the Adreno 730 graphics chip has several features that will make the heaviest titles run smoothly. Furthermore, the GPU scored 446,305 points in the graphics tests of the AnTuTu benchmark platform, and even surpasses Apple’s powerful A15 Bionic in GFXBench tests.
Therefore, new mobile gaming devices should really deliver a high quality experience. However, brands will have to offer other differentials to win the preference of players.
Far beyond the processor
In particular, new gamer cell phones must have their own cooling systems. This is an important part of special gaming models, which tend to heat up in hardware-intensive activities.
The Red Magic 7 series can bring an updated version of advanced thermal management with internal fans to dissipate heat as seen in the Red Magic 6s. The Lenovo Legion Y90 is expected to use an enhanced dual-cooling system with a vapor chamber, similar to the Legion Phone Duel 2.
What’s more, all new devices are expected to feature high refresh rate displays and better vibration engines. Not to mention the lighting with RGB lights, traditional in products aimed at the gamer audience.
