Nvidia GT 1010 wins benchmark and loses to integrated GPUs –

Looking for a graphics card? We’re sorry if that’s your case. It’s not new that prices are high, and even a simple GPU requires an investment that, in the past, bought this component and several others for its configuration.

Nvidia, however, has a very cost-effective solution on the market, and after nearly a year of its announcement we can finally get a better idea of how the GeForce GT 1010 fares — and the news isn’t great. The card is a staple product for OEMs, and should not be made available to the home consumer. Even so, those who want at least reasonable performance for games should run away from it, as the result puts it well behind even integrated solutions like Intel’s Iris Xe.

With 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, the GT 1010 has a GP108 GPU in a configuration of 256 CUDA cores clocked up to 1,228 MHz and boosted up to 1,468 MHz. The TDP is 30 W, which at least makes it an option viable for entry-level computers with power supplies up to 200 W.

To give you an idea, compared to the RTX 3070 it offers only 5% of the performance of this one. Even when we put a GTX 1650 TI on the side, the result is still just 17%. Next to the GTX 1050, the GT 1010 only delivers 44% of its results.

The card’s proposal, however, would be in line with Nvidia’s goal: to provide a dedicated GPU for hardware acceleration. That is, improve the basic use of the system, consumption of streaming, but moving away from games.

Another benefit of the GeForce GT 1010 would be to optimize the video connectivity of the computers it will integrate. That is, allowing more than one monitor to be connected, via HDMI or DVI ports.

market crisis

It is not news that the video card market is going through a major crisis. It involves factors such as the predatory behavior of cryptocurrency miners, and goes through the scarcity of basic materials for the production of semiconductors, such as silicon.

So, buying a good GPU today involves a lot of research and budget. None of the CEOs or top executives of the main companies in the sector has optimistic perspectives, at least in the short term, and the situation is expected to begin to improve only in the second half of this year.
