Lenovo unveils design of the Legion Y90, the brand’s new gamer phone –

Lenovo released on its social networks a new teaser of the Legion Y90, the company’s next smartphone gamer. Still no debut forecast, the device had some confirmed features, such as the screen, the processing and the cooling system, and now it has received the first images detailing the design changes employed by the brand.

Lenovo unveils Legion Y90 design

The phone was shown in a teaser video posted on Weibo and shows similarities with its predecessor, the Legion Phone Duel 2, with important improvements in structure and a more sober and refined design line. The model now uses a lead tone, with lines on the sides, Lenovo Legion logo in the lower left corner and the popped region for cooling and RGB lighting in the center.

The most important change is in the phone’s aluminum frame — the Legion Phone Duel 2 integrated the sides with the sprung center module, while still keeping the plastic antennas very close to the meeting area of both regions. This resulted in a huge structural weakness, as YouTuber proved zack jerry, from the channel JerryRigEverything, who managed to destroy the device by “folding” it without much effort.

Lenovo seems to be aware of the flaw and has separated the module from the sides, in addition to placing the antennas closer to the ends, relieving the stress on them. It’s necessary to wait for testing for the new model’s rigidity to be proven, but overall, the Legion Y90 appears to deliver a good evolution, and should appeal to users outside the gaming circle with the new, less flashy appearance.

Device features dual cooling and 144 Hz screen

According to information already disclosed by the company, the Lenovo Legion Y90 arrives on the market equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, accompanied by an improved version of the Legion Phone Duel 2 cooling system, with a steam chamber and two fans for quick heat dissipation.

The 6.92-inch AMOLED display will have 144 Hz refresh rate and 720 Hz touch sampling, but interestingly won’t feature LTPO technology, which automatically adjusts the frequency to save energy.

Instead, Lenovo will adopt what it called the “Smart Refresh Rate”, ranging from 60Hz to 144Hz depending on user interactions. In practice this means that the panel will reach full speed during scrolling and iteration, and will change rate to 60 Hz when stopped. Other details still remain unknown.
