How to put password in word document –

At certain times, it is strictly crucial to know how to put password in Word. It’s not uncommon for content to be extremely important, sensitive, personal, and definitely not in the hands of just anyone.

Fortunately, Microsoft 365 programs provide a native tool capable of doing this without the need for third-party software. Thus, it is possible to ensure that other users will not open or edit the content without proper authorization.

  1. With your document open, go to “File” in the upper left corner;
  2. Go to the “Information” tab in the left menu and click on “Protect Document”;
  3. In the opened menu, select “Encrypt with Password”;
  4. Create and enter a password, click “OK” and confirm it again in the next window. Be very careful, as Word does not offer the possibility of recovery in case of loss or forgetfulness;
  5. Save the document, if you haven’t already done so, to ensure the change is applied.

    To remove the password from the document, just open it, enter the password and repeat the process described above. In the password input box, just delete it and leave the field blank. Click “OK” and the password will be disabled, allowing access to the document normally.

Now that you know how to put a password in Word, whenever a document is opened, you will be asked for the key to display its contents.
