After S3, Galaxy S2 is revived with Android 12 –

In another surprising adaptation, the Samsung Galaxy S2 managed to run Android 12 under Lineage OS 19. A programmer shared the progress with the port on the XDA Developers site forum and, despite getting past the boot screen, the OS still hasn’t is 100%.

This is the second time a programmer has put Google’s new system to run on an old cell phone: yesterday (3), the Kenyannews reported the Galaxy S3 with Android 12 — also with some less features. Both have not supported Samsung updates for years.

According to the user known as rlNanDO, responsible for adapting the Lineage OS 19 to the top of the line in 2011, features that don’t work include the camera, AGPS and HDMI support (via MHL cable). Wi-Fi, display, audio, Bluetooth and even FM radio are functional in this version.

The model put to the test was the GT-i9100, equipped by a Samsung Exynos 4 Dual 4210 (the amount of RAM was not specified). The Robot System version that shipped the smartphone was originally Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread). Samsung updated the phone to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), released in 2012.

Galaxy S2 keeps going

Despite being on the market for over ten years, the Samsung Galaxy S2 succeeds in a number of system adaptations and, in a way, is still “alive” today. In December 2020, Android 11 arrived on the device through the Lineage OS — the unofficial update also introduced problems, including.

The user rlNanDO says he will continue to work on the Galaxy S2 to make it in the best possible state, but you can’t expect it to be perfect due to the age of the smartphone. For now, there are still no Android 12 samples running at the top of the line from 2011, but if you’re familiar with installing custom ROMs and have a spare Galaxy S2, it’s worth checking out how to try the new system on the classic cell phone.
