GM creates kit to transform any vehicle into electric –

General Motors (GM) even decided to dive headfirst into what it labeled the automaker’s “electric age”. The brand announced, in the United States, the creation of a kit capable of transforming any vehicle into an electric one.

The novelty, which was accompanied by the slogan “everybody in” (Everyone in, in the literal translation) is the possibility of offering zero emission technology not just for cars, new or old.

The resources may be applied to other types of vehicles, such as boats or TUGs, ground support equipment or baggage tractors, used at airports – the famous ladders. GM’s idea is to invest US$ 20 billion by 2030.

“GM has an established strategy, network of integrators and co-development agreements to apply a wide range of components and solutions to a wide range of customers and use cases. As companies in many industries look to reduce their environmental impact, GM is uniquely positioned to serve as a leader not just through exciting new EVs in our brands, but through additional technology applications, and we look forward to to bring customers on our zero-emissions journey,” said Travis Hester, vice president of Electric Vehicle Growth Operations at GM.

Electric era will have 4 key areas

All of this investment in expanding the electric age beyond new vehicles and launches will be divided into 4 key areas: Chevy Performance and Aftermarket, GM Powered Solutions, Ground Support Equipment and Marine Propulsion.

The first area has already featured electric conversion concept vehicles, such as the E-10 pickup, K-5 Blazer-E, eCOPO Camaro and Project X. The newest was an El Camino year 1972, electrified by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, located in Brighton, Michigan.

The other areas have also started to develop projects and, according to the brand, are part of GM’s effort to extend the performance and benefits of zero-emission technology to new industries and serve as a natural extension of the automaker’s growth strategy.
