O Sleeping Bus Tour is specially designed to help passengers fall asleep. Tourists who are homesick for travel or sleep deprived are the targets of the initiative.
Under normal circumstances, falling asleep during a paid trip is a waste of money. As strange as it sounds, the Sleeping Bus Tour was born with that same purpose.
“When we were making a brainstorming about new excursions, I saw a post by a friend of mine on social media that said he was stressed with work, that he couldn’t sleep at night,” said Kenneth Kong, director of marketing and business development for Ulu Travel, the company behind this new concept.
What intrigued him most was the knowledge that his friend fell asleep quickly and slept peacefully when traveling by bus. “That one post inspired us to create this trip that allows passengers to sleep on the bus”, he said, speaking to Associated Press.
The bus journey takes five hours and takes passengers on an 83-kilometer route aboard a standard double-decker bus.
O Sleeping Bus Tour is not only the first initiative of its kind, but also the Hong Kong’s longest bus route.
According to the Travel and Leisure, the experience starts at a restaurant, where a “Western 2-course menu” is served, or what the company describes as a “Food Coma Lunch”.
Once accommodated on the bus, the journey begins, which includes some stops for photographs and breaks for passengers to go to the bathroom.
Tickets for the Sleeping Bus Tour are divided into four categories, from the “Zero-decibel Sleeping Cabin” to the “VIP Panorama Cabin”. Prices vary between 15 and 100 euros per person.
