Second career success (in 155 appearances) on the PGA Tour for Poston who, thanks to this affirmation, went from 99 / a to 58 / a in the world ranking and from 66 / a to 22 / a in the FedEx Cup.

The venture earned the 29-year-old from Hickory (North Carolina) $ 1,278,000 for a total prize pool of 7,100,000. After the exploit in August 2019 at the Wyndham Championship, Poston has dropped an encore of victories on the top American men’s circuit.

Already runner up last week at the Travelers Championship, Poston in his fifth appearance at John Deere – on the TPC Deere Run course, par 71 – dominated the scene. Satisfaction also for Bezuidenhout and Grillo who, with this result, took the pass to play, from 14 to 17 July, the 150th edition of The Open, the fourth and last male Major of 2022 scheduled in Scotland.

The John Deere Classic (JDC) is a stroke-play PGA Tour golf tournament held at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. It was created in 1971 under the name Quad Cities Open and was played from 1971 to 1974 in Davenport (Iowa) then in Coal Valley (Illinois) from 1975 to 1999.

The tournament record is held by Michael Kim who scored 257 shots and -27 par in 2018. In 2005, the young golfer Michelle Wie benefited for the first time from an invitation of the sponsor of the tournament to face the men.

On this occasion, the crowd was greater than in previous years. Michelle Wie didn’t make the cut for two shots. The following year, she was invited again, and this time passed the cut. Victim of the heat, she abandoned the race on the second day after nine holes.

The 2018 edition is endowed with 5.8 million dollars. Initially scheduled for early July, the 2020 edition was canceled on May 28 by the organizing committee, due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.
