The Red Devils could not do anything against the Reds, let alone in the absence, for tragic reasons, of their top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo. Indeed, the Portuguese was absent after the death of his son who died at birth.
Liverpool fans, yet Manchester’s great rival, wanted to pay tribute to the former Real Madrid player during the 7th minute of the match by launching songs and applause in his honor. At the end of the match, Jürgen Klopp called this scene “the moment of the match”: “The highlight of the match was the seventh minute, when the whole stadium showed great class. In life, there are so many things more important than football. We sympathize with Cristiano Ronaldo and his family. It was my moment of the match.”
