Joseph Yobo’s Fenerbache retained the Ziraat Turkish Cup as an early Moussa Sow’s goal was enough to beat Trabzonspor 1-0 in Ankara.

The Europa League semi finalist finished ten points behind champions Galatasaray in the Turkish League, but clinched the cup title for a second time in quick succession. It means Fenerbache has now won the Turkish Cup six times in their history.

It was an early (9th minute) goal from the Senegalese striker Sow, when he ran on to a pass from Mehmet Topal and fired in a low shot.

Sow, who was voted man of the match after the game went close to adding a second goal, while Adrian Mierzejewski had Trabzonspor’s best effort with a shot that went wide.

Fenerbache’s Brazilian midfielder Cristian Baroni had a free- kick well saved by Trabzonspor goalkeeper Tolga Zengin.

Joseph Yobo played for the whole of 90 minutes, after which the Istanbul club celebrated their victory by announcing the signing of Eskisehirspor 22- year- old midfielder Alper Potuk, on a five year deal.
