Nigeria will play the return leg of its Afri-Global Unity skate soccer challenge at the Agege Stadium this weekend, the organisers have revealed.

The International Skate Soccer Fiesta, which features physically-challenged athletes from Nigeria and Ghana, is organised by the IFSS (International Federation for Skate Soccer) and co-sponsored by Afriglobal Group of Companies, a business conglomerate with business interests in healthcare, supply chain management and commodities.

Africa’s leading brand in household electrical appliances, Binatone also uses it as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The match on Saturday is expected to evoke the age-old soccer rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana.

The sport and the non-profit IFSS were created to bring together the physically challenged, with a core focus on Polio sufferers, who have no ability to walk, who usually beg for alms. The benefit that IFSS hopes to bring to these individuals is food, shelter and help in finding a steady job.

Group CEO/MD of the match sponsor, Afriglobal Group, Mr. Maneesh Garg agrees that skate soccer is a worthy cause, which will produce lasting impact in the lives of the participants and in turn produce meaningful societal impact.

Also looking forward to the match, CEO Jumia Nigeria, Ms. Juliet C. Anammah revealed that her company has been promoting skate soccer in both Ghana and Nigeria.

Also explaining their involvement in the game, Binatone Managing Director, Mr. Sunil Lalvani said his company got behind skate soccer and the IFSS because it is ‘an excellent way for the company to give back to a part of the world that has treated it so well.’
