Nick Kyrgios’ manager Daniel Horsfall reveals the hope is that the Australian tennis star will be ready to return from a knee surgery at the Indian Wells Masters. Kyrgios, 27, was forced to withdraw from the United Cup and Adelaide 2 due to a torn meniscus and a cyst in his knee.

After the same injury forced him to pull out of the Australian Open, Kyrgios made the call to surgically repair his knee. The Indian Wells Masters is kicking on March 8th. “The surgery was a great success. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome of it.

Now we will be pushing ahead for a speedy recovery and are aiming to see everyone at Indian Wells,” Horsfall told The Herald and The Age.

“For now, Mumma K [Nick’s mother, Nill Kyrgios] will have her work cut out for her having everyone around the home for a little while.

Nick will stay back in Canberra. His plan is to eat delicious food and play a lot of Pokemon. But on a more serious note, Will [physiotherapist Will Maher] and NK will be in the gym still working on the rest of his body to make sure he stays fit and fresh in the meantime,” Horsfall added.

Kyrgios had great expectations for this year’s Australian Open. After finishing as runner-up at Wimbledon and then also reaching the US Open quarterfinal, Kyrgios’ big goal was to win his first Grand Slam singles title in front of his home fans.

In the months leading up to the Australian Open, Kyrgios was heavily mentioned as someone who could go all the way. Unfortunately, Kyrgios sustained a knee injury in the offseason and that forced him to miss the entire Australian swing.

Last year, Kyrgios made the Indian Wells quarterfinal before losing to Rafael Nadal. It remains to be seen if Kyrgios will be able to play in early March.
