Republican Texas Representative Louie Gohmert has called out the Joe Biden Administration as he is not impressed by the fact that Novak Djokovic could miss out on the US Open because of his vaccination status. Djokovic, a 21-time Grand Slam champion, is likely to miss out on the US Open because the current US vaccine laws don’t allow unvaccinated foreigners to enter the country.
“Novak Djokovic overcame war and threats of starvation to become one of the world’s top tennis players, if not the top player. Yet, now it appears he may not be able to overcome the Biden Administration’s cold, heartless, malevolent, scientifically oblivious mentality in order to compete in the 2022 US Open,” Gohmert told the Daily Caller.
“This Administration’s vaccine travel mandate is proof of Biden’s xenophobia and his refusal to move forward as scientific information continues to proliferate.”

“The current vaccine mandate for foreign travelers to the United States is not only anti-science, it’s anti-American,” Gohmert added.
Meanwhile, Djokovic has sent out an update to his fans, revealing that he is preparing as if he will be allowed to compete at the US Open. “I just wanted to take a moment and say to all of you how grateful I am to see so many messages of support and love from all around the world these days.
I wasn’t expecting it, and that’s why it feels so mindblowing. Just wanted to say THANK YOU. It feels special that people connect with my tennis career in such a loving and supportive way and wish for me to continue to compete.
I am preparing as if I will be allowed to compete, while I await to hear if there is any room for me to travel to US. Fingers crossed!” Djokovic wrote on Instagram over the weekend. The Montreal Masters kicks off next week and Djokovic still hasn’t officially withdrawn from the tournament.
Djokovic is still holding hope that he will be allowed to compete at the Masters events in Montreal and Cincinnati, as well as the US Open.
