Novak Djokovic got off to a shaky start to his Wimbledon semifinal match versus Cameron Norrie and afterward admitted he was feeling the nerves and pressure going into the match. Djokovic, 35, recovered from a slow start to the match to beat British hope Norrie 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 and progress into his eighth final at The All England Club.

After a shaky start to the match, Djokovic looked very sharp in the rest of the match and beat Norrie to progress into a record 32nd Grand Slam final. Following his latest victory, Djokovic beat Roger Federer for the all-time record for most Grand Slam finals.

The Swiss previously held the record with the most Grand Slam finals (31).

Djokovic: I’m aware of what’s on the line

“Well, I’m aware of what’s on the line,” Novak Djokovic said. “I mean, every match, every Grand Slam that I get to play at this stage of my career, there is a lot on the line.

I don’t know how many Grand Slam opportunities to win the trophy I will still have, as I will have in few days’ time. So, of course, I’m approaching it with positive attitude and self-belief and willingness to win.

There’s no doubt about it. How do you balance that? Well, it’s really subjective. Every player is different. I can’t, and I don’t want to speak about all the details and routines that I have that make me feel well-balanced and prepared.

But there are things that I do in order to make myself mentally, emotionally, and physically well-prepared. Again, that’s not a guarantee because on the court a lot of things can happen. There’s so much going on, pressure and expectations.

Sometimes you’re able to handle it better than your opponent; sometimes not”. In the Wimbledon final, Djokovic faces Nick Kyrgios, who didn’t have to play his semifinal match after Rafael Nadal pulled out due to an abdominal injury. Djokovic is set to play Kyrgios for the third time and he is seeking his first win over the Australian.
