Here’s everything you missed on Mexicans playing abroad.
Santiago Gimenez opened up the scoring for Feyenoord against Twente on Sunday morning, heading the ball into the net in the 28th minute of the match.
Though Twente eventually found the equalizer in the second half to draw 1-1 and earn each side a point, Gimenez made good use of his place in the starting line up. It was the Mexican’s fourth goal in 17 matches for Feyenoord, since joining in July 2022 from Liga MX team Cruz Azul.
Pineda strikes again.
The Mexican scored yet again for AEK Athens, this time against Aris, inspiring the 3-0 victory and three points. He’s now scored seven goals in 20 matches this season, quickly becoming a staple under head coach Matías Almeyda.
AEK Athens currently leads the Greek Super League table with 47 points in 20 games and a record of 15W-3L-2D. Despite a slow start to his career in Greece, Orbelin Pineda is now unstoppable.
