Tottenham Hotspur right wing-back Djed Spence now has a real chance of leaving the north London club in before Tuesday’s deadline.

It has been reported the Lilywhites are closing in on the potential signing of the Sporting CP wing-back Pedro Porro which will only increase the competition facing Spence.
This comes with just a matter of days remaining until the January transfer window closes and it has seen Spurs reportedly open up to the possibility of allowing Spence to depart.
It is believed there are a number of clubs already showing an interest in Spence with the likes of Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham credited as clubs looking into his availability.
And speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested the possibility of Spence departing the north London club in the coming days is high:
“Yeah, I think there’s a real possibility that Spence could leave before next week’s deadline. He’s obviously going to be fourth-choice rightwing-back if they do get a deal done for Pedro Porro.
“So that’s not good for his development. It really hasn’t worked out this move to Tottenham for Spence so far.”
Looking for an opportunity
It will have been a testing number of months for the 22-year-old since making the move to Tottenham from Middlesbrough in the summer.
With Antonio Conte at the helm, Spence has not been awarded a single start in any competition for Spurs this season with his only appearances coming from the bench.
The only start Spence has made for the Lilywhites came during the World Cup break in a behind-scenes friendly against Motherwell where he impressed.

And his lack of opportunities under the Italian can be summed up through his game time on the pitch with just 41 minutes under his belt across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
Since the return from the World Cup break, Spence has made the Premier League squad just twice and has been left out for four of the six games.
This has come after his promising 2021/22 campaign for Boro and Nottingham Forest where he made 50 appearances and played 4372 minutes across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
But it will be interesting to see whether Spurs only allow him to move on loan with reports suggesting some of the interested clubs are hoping to include an option to purchase at the end of the season.
And it would feel like a huge waste of time if Spurs were to sell Spence but it would be interesting to see what he could do in the top flight at another club and potentially prove a point to Conte.
