If he wins Padraig Harrington will become, at 51 years and 144 days, the oldest winner of a European Tour tournament. A goal that the Irishman, winner of a PGA Championship and two Opens at Carnoustie and Birkdale in the late 2000s, thinks is within reach.
“I think I have never played as well as I do now. A few years ago I was finished but I have changed my mentality since. By the way, do you want to know my secret? When I started doing stats nobody was doing them, today everyone is doing them so I don’t do them anymore.
I am not a follower, I do the opposite of what the majority does. he explains with a smile. I know that I could find myself in a position to win in the final stretch and I think that I still have something to scare the players of today in this situation.

I’ve played something like 460 tournaments, I’ll probably go up to 500 and I know I might find myself in a position to win in the final stretch and I think I still have something to do fear to today’s players in this situation.
