An update has emerged on Glasgow Rangers and their pursuit of a deal to sign Morgan Whittaker during the January transfer window…

According to the Daily Record, the Light Blues are plotting a third offer to sign the attacker from English Championship side Swansea before the end of the month.

The report claims that the Gers have already had two bids turned down by the Welsh outfit and that the player is keen on making the move happen, after asking to be left out of his side’s match at the weekend to avoid being unable to play for another club this season.
It does not state how much Ross Wilson is set to offer for the forward but it has been reported that Swansea value the 22-year-old in the region of £2m.
Imagine him & Antonio Colak
Wilson could land Rangers manager Michael Beale an exciting attacking duo by signing Morgan Whittaker as the Englishman could thrive alongside Antonio Colak at the top end of the pitch.
The Croatian striker has had injury troubles of late but proved earlier in the season that he has the quality to be a terrific player for the club in the Premiership.
Colak joined the club from PAOK last summer and hit the ground running with a stunning 11 goals in 14 Scottish top-flight outings in 2022, although he recently blanked upon his return against Dundee United earlier this month.
Whittaker could form a lethal partnership with the clinical finisher based on his impressive form for Plymouth on loan during the first half of the season.
Retired winger Jobi McAnuff recently lauded the forward’s ability after his spell in League One. Speaking on Sky Sports News, via Wales Online, the former EFL dynamo said: “He’s a top, top young player. He’s been out on loan at Plymouth where’s he got nine goals and seven assists.
“He can play wide right or just behind the striker. He scores important goals, he’s a great dribbler and carries the ball well. He’s a fluid player who links into the attack very well and he’s got a fantastic left foot.”
Whittaker plundered nine goals and seven assists, as McAnuff stated, for the third-tier outfit and created seven ‘big chances’ for his teammates, whilst making 1.3 key passes per match.
These statistics show that the 22-year-old dynamo is capable of both scoring goals and setting them up for others, which is why he could be an excellent partner for Colak in the final third.
Whittaker, whilst also finding the back of the net himself, could regularly provide the Croatian marksman with the chances he needs to thrive in the box – hopefully helping the Gers to win valuable points in the Premiership.
