Aryna Sabalenka described Novak Djokovic as “a funny and nice guy” after spending some time with the Serb in Dubai. Last month, Sabalenka was teammates with Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov and Paula Badosa during the inaugural World Tennis League in Dubai.

With Badosa, Sabalenka has a great relationship and the two tennis stars are good friends. After getting to know Djokovic and Dimitrov, Sabalenka has nothing but good to say of the two ATP stars. “That’s nice actually, I didn’t know them well before this event and they seem to be really nice guys and so funny.

We’re having fun and it’s super cool to have stars like they are in the team, so we can have interesting conversations. You can ask for advice, so it’s really cool to have them on our team,” Sabalenka told the WTA website.

Sabalenka hopes to one day play mixed doubles with Djokovic

During the 2022 WTA Finals in November, Sabalenka named Djokovic as her dream mixed doubles partner. At the time, Sabalenka didn’t know that Djokovic would be her teammate in Dubai.

“I didn’t know at the time. It’s really cool, and hopefully we’re going to play mixed,” Sabalenka added. Meanwhile, for months Sabalenka has been working on improving her serve. Last season, Sabalenka hit 428 double faults – by far the biggest numbers among the WTA players.

But in recent months, Sabalenka is feeling more comfortable serving. “I definitely feel much more comfortable than it was in the beginning of last season, but there are still a lot of things to improve and I’m really working hard to make sure my serve is going to be the best next season,” Sabalenka said.

Meanwhile, Sabalenka is starting her 2023 season in Adelaide this week. In two weeks, Sabalenka will kick off her quest for her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
