Lydia Ko ends the year in style with wedding

New Zealander of South Korean origin Lydia Ko ended her very good year 2022 marked by 3 victories on the LPGA with a surprise wedding in Seoul. Lydia Ko and Jun Chung said yes at Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul on Friday.

The photos of the newlyweds were posted on several Instagram accounts of guests of the current world number 1 who announced her engagement with Chung in August.

Chung was in attendance for Ko’s third win of the season at November’s CME Group Tour Championship (main photo). The Kiwi had pocketed $ 2 million on this occasion, the biggest check in the history of women’s golf.

Ko is therefore not ready to forget the year 2022 which saw her return to the highest level. 12 months during which she triumphed several times over what had not happened to her since 2016 and which therefore ends with a sumptuous wedding.

Lydia Ko is a New Zealand golfer of South Korean descent. She became No. 1 in the world rankings on February 2, 2015 at the age of 17 years 9 months and 8 days, making her the youngest golfer, male or female, to reach the top ranking.

With her win of the Evian Championship on September 13, 2015 she also became the youngest female winner of a major competition, aged 18 years, 4 months and 20 days. In her career she boasts 14 titles on the LPGA Tour, two majors, a silver medal in the individual at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and a bronze, again in the individual, at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

She was born in Seoul, South Korea, in the early 2000s she moved with her family to New Zealand, where she obtained citizenship at the age of 12. She attended Mairangi Bay Primary and later Pinehurst School in the city of Albany.[4][5] Since 2015, she has been studying psychology as an online distance learning degree program at the Korea University in Seoul.

She fell in love with the sport of golf at the age of 5 when her aunt Insook Hyon gave her a golf club, with which she began to play more and more often.
