Novak Djokovic says he is not lacking any motivation at the start of the season as he underlines his main goal is “to peak in Melbourne.” Djokovic, who officially returned to Australia earlier this week, is starting his season at the Adelaide International.

In Adelaide, Djokovic will be looking to find his game and rhythm. But when the time comes for the Australian Open, Djokovic wants to be fully in sync with his game. “The goal is to peak in Melbourne. That’s where I want to play my best.

I guess at this stage of my career, with all the achievements, every big tournament win is possibility to make more history. Of course, that’s very humbling for me. It’s also a big challenge, but it’s a huge motivation.

I don’t lack inspiration and motivation to play my best,” Djokovic said, per the ATP website.

Djokovic could play big matches in Adelaide

The Adelaide International is set to feature a star-studded player field as Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune and Denis Shapovalov have also signed up to play.

In Adelaide, Djokovic could play some big matches – something that could be very helpful for him leading up to the Australian Open. Djokovic acknowledged that the Adelaide player field is “super strong” but also noted that he is always confident in his chances wherever he plays.

“The field is super strong. You have Medvedev, Felix, Rublev. You have really, really top guys. Also in the opening rounds, you can play Thanasi Kokkinakis, who is title defender, right? That could be fun actually. Playing Thanasi in front of his home fans, could be fun,” Djokovic said.

Throughout his career, Djokovic has enjoyed lots of success playing in Australia. Djokovic is the top favorite to win his first two tournaments of the season and it shouldn’t be a surprise if Djokovic won back-to-back titles at the Adelaide International and Australian Open.
