DP World Tour golfers continue to battle it out in the 2022 ISPS Handa Australian Open (A$1.7 million prize pool). The historic event, born in 1904, is organized in partnership between the European tour, PGA Tour of Australasia, and OneAsian Tour.
The second round has just ended, let’s take a look at the rankings.
Handa Australian Open, results
After the first 36 holes at the top of the leaderboard we find a tandem of hosts made up of David Micheluzzi and Adam Scott.
Both lead with a score of -8 (134 hits), with the latter good at recovering 22 positions thanks to the superb -7 of the day. -5 and third position for the Australians Haydn Barron and Jash Geary, and for the American Gunner Wiebe.
On the par 70 courses of the Victoria Golf Club, and par 72 of the Kingston Health Golf Club, a small group composed of the Frenchman Pierre Pineau, the Dane Nicolai Hojgaard, the German Velten Meyer, and the Australians Cameron Percy and Shae closed the top ten in sixth place Wools Cobb.
Adrian Meronk climbs up the ranking. The Pole not only avoids the cut, but recovers 92 positions climbing up to 11th place thanks to today’s -6 which projects him to -3. Nothing to do for Andrea Pavan, who after the +9 of his debut, raised the white flag by retiring from the oceanic event.
Event that at the same time as the men’s tournament, also includes the women’s one. At the end of the second round she leads the Australian Hannah Green with -11, boasting a two point lead over the South Korean Jiyai Shin.

In his first full season on the European Tour in 2001, Scott won his first tournament, with more wins to follow over the next few years.
Scott was also immediately successful on the North American PGA TOUR and won four titles in the first three seasons, 2003 to 2005. Since 2006 he has played almost exclusively on the PGA Tour. In November 2006, Scott achieved his greatest success to date, winning the TOUR Championship, the highly prized, exclusive final tournament of the PGA Tour.
In February 2008, Scott won the Qatar Masters for a second time and set a new course record and personal best with a final round of 61 (11 under par). Scott represented his home country in the 2002 WGC World Cup and was on the International Team for the 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013 Presidents Cup.
His good looks and his Aussie charm have contributed to his popularity in the tournament scene and Scott is therefore not only a coveted “object” of all organizers because of his playing strength. He is also increasingly regarded as the successor to Australian golf legend Greg Norman.
All the more so when Scott signed Norman’s former caddy, Tony Navarro, in 2004. Since July 2011, Steve Williams, Tiger Woods’ longtime caddy, has worn the Scott golf bag. He celebrated by far the greatest success of his career by winning the 2013 Masters and coming second in the world rankings.
In November of that year, Scott won the ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf with Jason Day for Team Australia. After Tiger Woods was out injured for a long time, Adam Scott took the lead in the world rankings in May 2014. His biggest win so far in 2014 was a win at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, and in late 2013 he also won the Australian PGA Championship and the Talisker Masters, which are part of the PGA Tour of Australasia.
