Daniil Medvedev was straight honest after suffering a devastating loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas as he suggested that it was a shame from his side not to be able to serve out for the match on such a fast indoor-hard court in Turin.
On Wednesday, Medvedev lost an ATP Finals thriller to Stefanos Tsitsipas as the Greek beat the Russian 6-3 6-7 (11) 7-6 (1). In the third set, Medvedev had a 5-4 lead and was serving for the match but he failed to do so.
With his loss to world No 3 Tsitsipas, Medvedev has now lost his last seven matches played against top-10 players. “Terrible to not serve it out, especially on such fast court,” Medvedev said post-match, as quoted on Tennis Majors.

“It means I was not good enough, and I have to be better. Mentally, I don’t care. I don’t care if I play a top-10 or not. But tennis-wise it’s tougher to play a top-10 player.
That means I have to play better tennis against these guys. That’s what I’m going to try to do next time because there is no other choice,” Medvedev explained. In his Round Robin opener, Medvedev lost to fellow Russian Andrey Rublev.
Following the loss to Rublev, Medvedev entered the Tsitsipas match knowing he had to win if he wanted to have a chance of qualifying for the semifinal in Turin. “I didn’t really feel much nerves. I just had to play better, serve better.
I don’t know what to say else. I had to win the match, but I didn’t. So I have to do better next time. There is no other choice,” Medvedev concluded. After two very strong ATP Finals runs, Medvedev didn’t manage to make it past the group stage this year. Medvedev won the ATP Finals in 2020, while he ended as runner-up at the tournament last year.
