Iga Swiatek described the 2022 season as “special” and thanked everyone who helped her enjoy a very successful and historic year. Swiatek, 21, made nine finals and won eight titles this year, including two Grand Slam victories at the French and US Open.
In early April, Swiatek reached the world No 1 ranking and since then she has been the top-ranked player on the WTA Tour. Also, Swiatek went on a 37-match winning streak between February and July. Those 37 wins set the new record for the longest winning streak on the WTA Tour in the 21st century.
Now, Swiatek is on a vacation and having a well-deserved rest.
Swiatek sums up her year
“Last few days I had more time to realize fully and embrace what happened this year. It’s challenging to describe it with one word or even a sentence.
What I know for sure is that it was special and I’ll never forget it. On one hand my results were amazing, but on the other hand is what I learned about myself and it is a completely different story. There is still a lot of work, challenges and learning, that’s for sure and I’m excited about it.
I’m still processing a bit but I would not accomplish everything I did without my team. Thank you, Tomasz, Daria, Maciej. Many thanks to my business team, to my family and sponsors. And last but not least, thank YOU for your support and being with me all season long.

After Ashleigh Barty retired from professional tennis, Swiatek established herself as the new face of women’s tennis.
In 2023, Swiatek is expected to continue her dominance and add to her Grand Slam tally. Swiatek is now a three-time Grand Slam champion and many believe she has a real shot at winning at least 10 Majors. In January, Swiatek will be aiming to win her first Australian Open title.
