Newcastle United are interested in signing Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Premier League club Newcastle want to strengthen their defence for the second half of the season and are keen on bringing Badiashile to St. James’ Park when the transfer window opens in January.
Ligue 1 club Monaco reportedly want €40 million as transfer fees for Badiashile. Newcastle are in the running for the top four of the Premier League table this season, and their owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), are keen on helping manager Eddie Howe get more quality players in to finish in the UEFA Champions League places.
Badiashile has made eight starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for AS Monaco so far this season, scoring two goals in the process. The 21-year-old fender has also played five times for Monaco in the UEFA Europa League so far this campaign.
