Asked by Tennis Channel to admit something brave, Ons Jabeur responded promptly: “To eat some chocolate when my coach doesn’t see me.” You can watch Jabeur’s response in the video below.
“The ‘Minister of Happiness’ Ons Jabeur gets candid aboard Tennis Channel’s ‘Confessional Cart’, opening up about her first crush, what reality TV show she’d like to be a contestant on & her most embarrassing locker room moment.
Remember — the more questions she answers, the more points she earns!” the video’s description reads.
Jabeur respects her coach a lot
Back in 2021, Ons Jabeur declared that she couldn’t be happier to have Issam Jellali as her coach, appearing to suggest to Emma Raducanu that having a big name doesn’t guarantee success.
“My tennis coach is someone I respect so much. We kind of started from the bottom together. We are now in the top-10. Some people doubted our team a lot, but we stayed together. You don’t necessarily need to have a coach with a lot of experience.
We need to change this mindset. The most important thing is that the coach understands his player. From there you can do amazing things. This is what we did with my team. It’s a dream team that I have. I hope we will continue to work hard,” Jabeur said.
Andy Murray also gave advice to Raducanu on her search for a coach. “I think with any relationship, whether it’s strength and conditioning or tennis, it’s making sure you’re spending enough time with that person to really make a difference.
Unless you really dedicate the time, it’s difficult to make a difference. So if they (Emma Raducanu and Jez Green) get to spend enough time together, I’m sure that would be helpful. If it’s not Jez, then a strength and conditioning coach full time would be helpful for her.
Try to improve the physical side and avoid the niggles and injuries, and the best way to do that is to get stronger and have someone around you more consistently,” Murray said, per Tennishead.
