Novak Djokovic won four titles in 2022, reviving a season that was in danger of failing. The Serbian champion paid a very high price for his choice not to vaccinate against Coronavirus, having had to give up two Grand Slams (Australian Open and US Open) and all the American Masters 1000 (Indian Wells, Miami, Montreal and Cincinnati).

The former world number 1 redeemed himself by triumphing at Wimbledon for the fourth time in a row, the seventh ever. The 35-year-old from Belgrade has thus equaled his idol Pete Sampras and shortened the gap that separates him from Rafael Nadal in the all-time Grand Slam standings.

The ‘Djoker’ also prevailed in Rome, Tel Aviv and Astana, detaching the pass for the ATP Finals in Turin. Meanwhile, Novak’s lawyers are in contact with the Australian authorities to lift the three-year ban on the Serbian.

The 21-time Grand Slam champion is expected to receive a definitive answer in the coming weeks. In a long interview with the ‘Tennis365’ portal, Annabel Croft analyzed Djokovic’s prospects in this season finale.

Croft praises Nole Djokovic

Consultant in Great Britain, former player, 24th in the world in the 80s and founder of her own academy, the Briton was questioned by our colleagues at Tennis365 about the state of form of Novak Djokovic who has just made his arrival official.

in Paris before moving on to Turin. “It certainly feels like Novak is the best player in the world and I guess we will find out over the next two weeks at the tournaments in Paris and Turin. You look at the way he played at Wimbledon, even after everything that happened to him, and it was just flawless.

He was magnificent and the way he found the way to beat Nick Kyrgois in the final was so impressive.” Speaking to media outlet Sportal, the Serb stated that he had never experienced such a long gap without playing unless he was out with an injury.

“More than three months passed from winning Wimbledon to the next tournament in Israel,” Djokovic said. “Somehow, except when I was injured, I never experienced such long breaks. I cannot say that this break was caused by my will because I wanted to go to America, but it was not possible.

The positive thing about it is that I had more time to prepare and work on some elements of the game that usually we tennis players don’t have time to work on due to the tight schedule of tournaments. In my opinion, that is a good thing,” he added.
