British tennis star Emma Raducanu is looking forward to competing in Seoul this week as she reveals she is into K-dramas and Korean food. Raducanu, 19, is making her debut at this week’s Korea Open in Seoul. Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, revealed that her best friend is from Korea.
“Yeah, first time in Korea but you know I’ve heard so much good things about it. My best friend is from Korea, she got me into a lot of K-dramas,” Raducanu said, per Sportskeeda. “Korean food is sure my favorite.
Because my mum grew up in China, it’s got a lot of Korean food as it’s quite close to here. So yeah, looking forward to seeing it for myself.”
Raducanu suffered a round-of-16 loss in Portoroz
After losing early at the US Open, Raducanu returned to action in Portoroz.
In Slovenia, Raducanu made a winning start before suffering a surprise defeat to Anna-Lena Friedsam in the round-of-16. While in Portoroz, Raducanu was asked about the late Queen Elizabeth II. “Honestly, it’s very sad.
When I heard the news, I couldn’t believe it, because she was a solid pillar and compass for me, as indeed for all British people. Everything around was changing, but she remained a constant. She led our country and indeed the world in a very strong way.
Britain will be mourning for quite some time,” Raducanu told Teniski Svet. Meanwhile, Raducanu has been handed a favorable first round draw in Seoul. In the Seoul first round, Raducanu plays Moyuka Uchijima. After the US Open was over, Raducanu suggested she felt a bit relieved as she was hoping that would lead to less presure on her.
In Portoroz, Raducanu didn’t really do well. In Seoul, she will certainly be aiming to make a deeper run. It remains to be seen how far can Raducanu go in her Seoul debut.
