Coach Patrick Mouratoglou picked Serena Williams’ win over Anett Kontaveit among his three favorite moments from this year’s US Open. In the US Open second round, Williams defeated second-seeded Kontaveit 7-6 (4) 2-6 6-2.
That match set the new attendance record at the US Open as 29,959 spectators came to watch Williams’ match versus Kontaveit. “Serena beating Kontaveit, number two in the world, coming from where she was coming in the previous weeks is a big and the fact that she was at home in the US, it was the perfect place for her to say goodbye,” Mouratoglou said in a video posted on his Instagram.

In the US Open round-of-16, American Tiafoe upset Nadal 6-4 4-6 6-4 6-3.

In a thriller that lasted over five hours, Alcaraz saved a match point to beat Sinner 6-3 6-7 (7) 6-7 (0) 7-5 6-3. After saving a match point in the fourth set, Alcaraz also recovered from a break down in the fifth set. “The match of tournament for sure the Sinner/Alcaraz, unbelievable level, 5 sets, match point for Sinner, just to say how close these two guys are.
Probably the future biggest stars of tennis, so we’re gonna see a lot of Grand Slam finals like that. And this match was the masterclass of this whole US Open,” Mouratoglou concluded.
