Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov has decided to put an end to his partnership with coach Dante Bottini. After the 2021 season, Dimitrov added Bottini to his coaching staff. Nine months into their partnership, Dimitrov decided to that he and Bottini should go their separate ways.

Dimitrov made a few notable results at the start of the season, but has been struggling with his game in recent months. This season, Dimitrov is 21-18 on the main level, with no titles won this year. “After two years of coaching Grigor Dimitrov, he has decided to part ways.

I would like to thank him for giving me the opportunity to be his coach. I wish him the best for the future, both in his career and personal life,” Bottini announced in a statement.

Dimitrov didn’t impress during this summer

Throughout his career, Dimitrov has been known as a player capable of doing well on grass and hard.

But this summer has been everything but a good one for Dimitrov. Dimitrov kicked off his grass season at the Queen’s Club, where he was upset by Botic van de Zandschulp in the round-of-16. At Wimbledon, Dimitrov injured himself during his first round match and was forced to retire versus Steve Johnson.

After retiring injured at Wimbledon, Dimitrov was able to kick off his North American hard court swing on time. This summer, Dimitrov appeared in five hard-court tournaments. In those five tournaments played, Dimitrov clinched just three wins.

At the US Open, Dimitrov defeated Steve Johnson in the first round before being ousted by Brandon Nakashima in his following match. Dimitrov played much better at the start of the season, when he reached the semifinals at the Melbourne Summer Set and Monte Carlo Masters.

Also, Dimitrov made the Indian Wells Masters quarterfinal in March. It remains to be seen if Dimitrov can find his game and clinch some notable results before the season ends.
