Roger Federer’s ex-coach drops big praise on Iga Swiatek

Paul Annacone predicts Iga Swiatek will be a Hall of Famer one day as he finds it impressive that the 21-year-old Pole is already a three-time Grand Slam champion. Swiatek, who was the first-seeded player in the US Open main draw, defeated Ons Jabeur 6-2 7-6 (5) to win her first US Open title.

Previously, Swiatek made it all the way at the French Open in 2020 and 2022. Swiatek is 3/3 in Grand Slam finals, without a set lost. “She continues to get more and more confident in the big moments. This is gonna be trouble for a lot of women on the women’s tour,” Annacone said on Tennis Channel, per Sportskeeda.

“That’s just amazing to think about. Alright 21 years of age, her third major. It was just a couple of years ago we were wondering what this potential was gonna look like. Cut to 23 months, how about three majors, she is in the Hall of Fame.

She is 21 years of age, these are just building blocks.”

Swiatek on her improved game on hard

After the 2021 season ended, Swiatek focused on improving her game on hard. Nine months into the 2022 season, Swiatek has won four titles on hard this year.

After winning the US Open, Swiatek admitted that she wasn’t fully confident that she could win a Grand Slam on hard in 2022. “Yeah, for sure it is. At the beginning of the season I realized that maybe I can have some good results on WTA events.

I also made it to semifinal of Australian Open. But I wasn’t sure if I was on the level yet to win actually a Grand Slam, especially on US Open where the surface is so fast,” Swiatek reflected. Swiatek has proved that she is more than capable of dominating on clay and hard, but there are still some question marks regarding her grass game.
