Trevor Immelman is in big trouble. The President Cup starts on September 20, and his team has never looked this weak. The biggest reason for this is the departure of players to LIV Golf. As many as 5 of them who were part of the team 3 years ago have joined LIV Golf, which means they will not have a place on the team.
Immelman had to call 5 rookies because of that. The list of players is complete, and 12 of them will try to help their team. It will be interesting. Immelman believes that 12 players from the list can give their maximum. ‘These are the 12 players that wanted to be eligible.
These are the 12 players that wanted to be on the team. Those are the 12 that I want at the end of the day,’ Immelman said Tuesday, as quoted by dailymail.com ‘If we’re going to get into some really tough competition here in a couple weeks, I want the guys that are committed, and these are those guys.’
Immelman and his team
Immelman is aware of the challenge he has in front of him and the task will be too difficult, but optimism still exists. ‘I know now that we have 12 players that are hungry, and we have 12 players that wanted to be there, so we go from here,‘ Immelman said.
‘We understand exactly the mountain that we have in front of us — possibly the best American team ever assembled if you look at them on paper.’ Many underestimate Immelman and his players, but let’s wait for the start.
‘Yeah, I don’t really think I have to play the underdog role up,’ Immelman said. ‘I think everybody knows it. Everybody sees it clear as day. Our team has had a lot of adversity thrown at us over the last year or so.’
This will be an ideal opportunity for rookies to show their potential and this is their ticket to the top
