Cameron Smith is one of the biggest potentials in the world of golf and a man whose career is expected of a lot. Rumors have been circulating for several months that he will join LIV Golf, however, some believed that these rumors were false and that this would not happen.
Smith surprised many and confirmed his decision a few days ago: Yes, it’s true. I joined LIV Golf. Smith continued the trend of leaving the PGA Tour, which can certainly worry PGA leaders. We doubt that Smith will be the last to become part of LIV Golf, because there are many other players who have been mentioned as potential candidates to leave.
Of course, Cameron could have expected negative reactions, which is exactly what happened after the confirmation. After joining LIV Golf, he had an interesting statement in which he emphasized how much he misses his family and friends
“I’ve lived over here seven years now, and I love living in the U.S., but just little things like missing friends’ weddings, birthday parties and seeing your mates having a great time at rugby league games has been tough.”
Fred Couples’ reaction
Fred Couples, the legendary golfer, decided to react to Smith’s statement via Twitter. It is also obvious that Couples is dissatisfied with the departure of Smith. “To all my friends who I missed birthdays & weddings,” Couples wrote…… “so sorry, I was busy earning a living on the @pgatour and in my line of work the goal is to EARN your way to work weekends.
And by weekends i mean 72 holes. Sorry not sorry.” Couples is not the only one who reacted, there are many golf legends and players who are currently part of the PGA Tour. However, Smith knew what he was getting into and his desire is to build his career where he thinks is better.
