During her first-round match against Harmony Tan, 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu had to ask the umpire if she can go and change up her outfit, given that her Nike dress kept disturbing her. “Can this not count as one of my changeovers because, I mean, it’s not my fault, it’s Nike’s fault.
This dress is so bad,” Andreescu asked the umpire. After she got the approval, Andreescu headed to the lockers to change. “OK, I need to go. This is really bad,” said Andreescu. After the match, Bianca, asked about the incident, addressed the problem.
“It was just bothering me on some forehands. I just felt like it was kind of coming up a bit. Obviously, the wind didn’t help,” said Andreescu.

Andreescu tries to challenge herself
Not long before the start of the 2022 edition of the US Open, Andreescu described how she got to enjoy challenging herself.
“I just enjoy pushing myself a lot, I enjoy challenging myself. Before it was kind of a hassle for me to do that but now I really enjoy it. I love testing my limits and waking up early too. I never used to do that but now I love it,” said Andreescu.
Andreescu on her shape after Toronto
After her week at the Toronto tournament, home favorite Andreescu claimed notable wins over Daria Kasatkina and Alize Cornet, before falling short in three sets to Qinwen Zheng. “I definitely don’t think I’m there yet,” Andreescu told Complex Canada.
“I just gotta keep grinding but I also gotta tell myself I can’t play very good every single day. It’s just not what it is sadly, I wish I could do that. I really, really want this especially after so much time off, taking time for myself and all those rough moments.
I really feel like I’m in a great place right now and even me just talking right now—last year for instance, I would be more negative but I just feel so great. Also, I’m home, the crowd was for me, win or lose, I feel that they’ve always supported me so that means a lot,” said Andreescu.
