Alexis Ohanian said he was confident in what Serena Williams was doing at 2017 Australian Open even though the doctors told her to “take it easy.” In 2017, Williams won her 23rd Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open without a set lost.

In the final, Williams defeated her sister Venus Williams. Later, Williams revealed she was nine weeks pregnant when she won the Australian Open. Thrughout her career, Williams has accomplished some pretty impressive things.

But winning a Grand Slam while pregnant was a completely different level. “Athletes understand their bodies a million times better than the rest of us,” Ohanian told TIME magazine. “Even though the doctor was like, ‘You’ve got to take it easy, 100° heat, yadda, yadda, yadda,’ Serena said, ‘I got this.’ As long as she was confident, I was confident”.

Williams and Ohanian hoping to welcome a second child

In the September of 2017, Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first child, daughter Olympia. “Olympia doesn’t like when I play tennis,” Williams told TIME.

Olympia, who turns five this September, reacted with a “Yes” when Williams told her about her plans to retire after the US Open. “That kind of makes me sad,” Williams admitted. “And brings anxiety to my heart”.

Over the last five years, Williams has been giving her best to have a good balance between career, personal and business life. But Williams’ priorities have changed since the birth of Olympia and she admits that fully committing to the game has been almost impossible in recent years.

“It’s hard to completely commit, when your flesh and blood is saying, Aw,” Williams added. Three weeks ago, Williams revealed her plans to retire after this year’s US Open. In an article published for Vogue, Williams revealed she and her husband Ohanian are hoping to welcome a second child in the near future. In retirement, Williams plans to focus on family and business.
