Granby Open: Will Daria Kasatkina make it two out of two?
After the match, the world no.
10 said, “I’m happy with the level of the tennis today. At the beginning, it was a bit tight, but I’m happy with how I was able to manage the nerves, and I’m really happy with the way I was playing from the middle of the first set to the end of the match.
To play finals, it’s always great because we don’t make many, many finals – unfortunately it’s like this! So, every time I play a final it’s great, and I’m excited to be in the final and prepare for tomorrow”.
The Granby Open final’s the second final for Daria Kasatkina in 2022. Earlier, during the American swing, she made it to – and won – the title at the Silicon Valley Classic (def. Shelby Rogers). For a chance at the title, she will play namesake, Daria Saville.
Saville advanced well ahead before the final after her semi-final rival, the 10th seeded Marta Kostyuk withdrew from the tournament before their match after suffering an injury to her right shoulder.
