Daniil Medvedev was called a “loser” by hecklers following his Montreal Masters early exit. Medvedev, who was the top-seeded player in the Montreal main draw, suffered a 6-7 (2) 6-4 6-2 loss to Nick Kyrgios in his Montreal opener.

The match was played earlier last week but over the weekend a video surfaced showing Medvedev confronting hecklers. As Medvedev was making his way out of the tennis complex in Montreal, some decided to heckle him following his early Montreal exit.

Medvedev was surrounded by security staff and nothing physical happened as the Russian seemingly just wanted hecklers to put some respect on his name.

Medvedev tipped Kyrgios to break into the top-15

After winning a tight first set, Medvedev had a bad game in the first game of the second set and that’s when Kyrgios earned the lone break of the set to eventually force a decider.

In the third set, Medvedev had a 2-1 lead before losing the next five games. After the match, Medvedev said just falling short in two or three points was the reason for his loss. “For me today the biggest difference was that I missed in some important moments some shots.

I didn’t miss much, but missed just a few where I think it could be different maybe in the later stage of a tournament. That’s a pity. At the same time, well, it’s like this. It’s just a pity. I think it could be different in the other stages of the tournament.

That’s what made me just a little bit not good enough today to win. He was great. He was playing good. He beat me fairly, if we can say like this”. Also, Medvedev tipped Kyrgios to soon break into the top-15. “If he continues like this, he’s going to be top-15, top-10 player. He’s going to be seeded. He played very well,” Medvedev added.
