The Majorcan tennis player Rafael Nadal and his team finished in first position, tied with the Balneario Illetas & Gran Folies Beach Club, in the fourth Scratch event of the Qromia Hexagonal Golf Circuit held this Sunday at the Arabella Golf Son Muntaner course (Palma).
Nadal, together with his uncle and former FC Barcelona player, Miguel Ángel Nadal, Peter Mason and Jorge Alborch, delivered a card with 96 strokes in a competition in which 26 teams participated. In the Scratch mode, whoever has the lowest score with gross hits wins.
The Mallorcan, winner of 22 Grand Slam titles and who did not play the semifinals of the last Wimbledon Open against the Greek Nick Kyrgios due to an abdominal injury, was the golfer with the best individual result (37 strokes), along with Marc Salvà.
In the handicap classification modality, Rafa Nadal’s team finished in tenth position with 108 strokes. Nadal, a great golf fan and with a handicap similar to that of a professional golfer, has enjoyed a few days off in Ibiza and Mallorca.
He is scheduled to return to the tennis courts at the Canadian Masters 1,000 to be held between August 7 and 14 in Montreal. Next week, from Wednesday the 20th to Friday the 22nd of July, he will participate in the individual Balearic professional golf championship in Alcanada (Alcúdia), according to the entry list.
Rafael was number one in the ATP world for a total of 209 weeks, finishing 5 seasons in first place in the ranking. He is the only player in history to have reached number 1 in the ATP ranking over three different decades (2000-2009, 2010-2019, 2020).
Latest update on Rafa Nadal
In a recent interview with Talento a Bordo, Rafael Nadal spoke about the domination of the so-called ‘Big-3’ in the sport — namely himself, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. “In tennis there has always been generational change.
We have had great stars that have been replaced by others, it is normal. Perhaps in our case what has happened is that we have been many years, but I am convinced that those who arrive will stay and take over,” Nadal said.
The former World No. 1 touched on the topic as well, speaking about the importance of training one’s mental strength through competition. “Mental strength is one of the important elements for competition. Everything can be trained and that mental strength is something I also worked with my uncle Toni since I was a child.
Then, with the evolution of my career that work continued and the competition itself made it intensify and continue to evolve,” Nadal said.
