Spanish champion Rafael Nadal is enjoying an extraordinary 2022. Despite the constant physical problems that have plagued the Mallorcan, Rafa made a great comeback earlier in the year and won the Australian Open after a long absence, becoming the first tennis player in history to win at least 21 Grand Slam titles.

Rafa then returned to Roland Garros and, despite an unexceptional clay court season, he swept the competition and won in Paris, gaining revenge on Serbian champion Novak Djokovic, who had beaten him the previous year. Nadal reached twenty-two Grand Slam titles and for a few days he cherished the hope of trying to win all four Grand Slam titles.

However, Rafa had to give up once again due to physical problems. In the quarterfinal match against Taylor Fritz, Rafa suffered an abdominal tear of about seven millimeters, but despite this he completed the match with a surprising victory.

Only then did Rafa decide to withdraw from the tournament and thus leave the way open for Nick Kyrgios to reach the final. Nadal is currently out of action due to physical problems, but his goal is surely to get back in shape before the US Open, the last big goal of his season.

The possibility that Novak Djokovic will not participate in the event is very high (given that the Serbian is not vaccinated for Covid-19) and Rafa therefore has another great opportunity to stretch his advantage in the Slam ranking over his great and eternal rivals.

, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. According to the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Rafa Nadal will play an exhibition match in Chile on November 24 and 25, where he will face the host, Alejandro Tabilo.

Rafa Nadal resumed training

Feliciano Lopez has once again expressed his admiration for his compatriot, Rafael Nadal, after the latter’s victory in the fifth set super tie‐break against Taylor Fritz, with a tear in his abs, before finally forfeiting his half against Nick Kyrgios.

“Words have failed us for a long time to describe what Rafa is doing. You have to take advantage of it because at 36, when a player is able to win two Grand Slams in the circumstances in which he did, it is very difficult to explain what he is doing in words.

The clearest evidence is that when he is healthy, there are very few players who can beat him. The superiority of Rafa and Djokovic over the other players is very great”, underlined the Spaniard of 40 at the microphone of Radio Marca.
