Dutch giants Ajax are, according to reports, inching closer to agreeing a deal for Rangers star Calvin Bassey.
Such a move on the part of the Eredivisie champions, of course, comes with a key member of the club’s current backline on the verge of sealing a big-money move to the Premier League.
As per a whole host of sources, on the back of weeks of rampant speculation, Lisandro Martinez is finally primed to reunite with ex-boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

Ajax, as a result, have been forced into an altogether unwanted search for defensive reinforcements.
It appears, though, that the powers that be in Amsterdam have already gone as far as not only identifying their priority target, but moving forward with a bid, too.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ajax are ‘closing’ on an agreement with the aforementioned Rangers, to land star stopper Calvin Bassey.
The deal is understood to be at the ‘final stages’, with Bassey potentially set to undergo his medicals at The Johan Cruyff Arena as early as this coming week.
Elsewhere, Ajax are too ready to move forward with moves for both Francisco Conceição, and Brian Brobbey, a product of the youth setup in the Dutch capital.
